Horror author David Musser currently resides in High Point, North Carolina, originally from Stephens City, Virginia where his fascination with chilling tales began at a young age watching Dark Shadows, and every monster of the week movie he could find.
David's journey to becoming a published horror author began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when isolation transformed into inspiration for stories that explore the darkest corners of the human psyche. His novels submerge readers in eldritch worlds filled with thrills and suspense, featuring complex characters facing otherworldly forces and their own inner demons.
Published by Next Chapter Publishing, David Musser is very proud of his Indie Author roots and does his best to support the writing community. His works have been translated into multiple languages, reaching horror fans across the globe.
When he's not crafting his next frightening story, David hosts "The Authors Roundtable" podcast, connecting with wonderful writers across genres and giving back to the community. He can be found on most social media platforms @usahorrorauthor.

Literary Influences & Inspirations
Early Influences
Dracula gave his dyslexic brain a headache when trying to read it younger, but the gothic visuals of Romania and Stoker's atmospheric descriptions left lasting impressions that continue to influence his atmospheric writing style today.
Master Authors
Favorite authors include Clive Barker, Donald Hamilton, Louis L'Amour, Early King, and Early Koontz - masters who shaped his understanding of tension, character development, and storytelling craft.
Visual Inspirations
From Robert Parker's gritty Boston streets to Stephen King's haunting Maine landscapes, Anne Rice's mystical New Orleans, and the gothic shadows of Salem - these atmospheric settings inspire the dark worlds David creates.
Horror Origins
Dark Shadows sparked his love for supernatural storytelling, while classic monster movies provided a foundation for understanding what makes audiences both terrified and captivated by creatures of the night.
Writing Journey
The Beginning
Started writing during the COVID pandemic, with cousin Megan providing editing support. Published first book "Keep In The Light" - the book that started his writing career and established his voice in supernatural horror.
Indie Author Growth
Expanded the Keep In The Light series with "Whispers of Gray" and "Bad Humans." Developed following through audiobook versions and international translations. Started The Authors Roundtable podcast to give back to the writing community.
Traditional Publishing
Signed with Next Chapter Publishing, bringing indie works to traditional publisher while maintaining support for independent author community. Published "The Devil's Well" and began work on "The Bloody List."
Current Focus
Released "The Bloody List: Letters from a Serial Killer" as both ebook and audiobook. Continuing to balance psychological terror with supernatural elements while building toward upcoming book signing at Valerie Hill Vineyard (October 2025).
